Rant time! Surprise surprise surprise. The ABC reports something Tony doesnt like and theyre against Australia and Australias interests. I dont necessarily agree with the ABC decision release the Snowden leaks regarding phone tapping, but an independent and fully funded ABC is critical to our democracy and I respect the decision to break the story. I dont doubt that the ABC is left leaning, but this is merely a result of right leaning News Limited dominance of the mainstream media (recall the biased headlines during the election). If there was a left leaning dominance, I right leaning ABC would exist. This critism is less about whether the ABC is anti Australia and more about laying the ground work for funding cuts to reduce the opposing voice. At least dictators give it to you straight and dont piss in your ear and tell you its raining. A fully funded and independent ABC is a must to maintain democracy in this country and Tony is trying to limit that as much as possible. Do you really want an ABC unwilling to criticise the government, because that seems to be what Tony wants?
