Rape is one person physically imposing their will on another - TopicsExpress

Rape is one person physically imposing their will on another person often in a violent or harmful way. No one with sound logic would argue the victim would have the right to shoot the rapist in their own defense. If a woman walked around a corner to see where a stranger went because she was concerned about her neighborhood and neighbors, nobody would suggest that she was provoking that stranger to rape her. I see the Zimmerman/ Martin case in a very similar light. Beating someone is physically imposing your will upon them in a violent and harmful manner. Why would anyone logically assume the victim had no right to defend them self regardless of age or race? Zimmerman did not taunt or assault Martin to provoke violence, he merely followed to keep track of him. It is unfortunate that Trayvon did not simply ask Zimmerman what he wanted or tell him he would call the cops if he kept following him. The loss of life is tragic, why compound it with more violence?
