Raphael Nathan Rabbinovicz (1835-1888) was publisher of the work "Dikdukei Soferim" in 1867. It contains variant talmudic readings from medieval authorities and early printings, and most importantly, manuscripts, including the famous fourteenth-century Munich manuscript, the only surviving medieval manuscript of the entire Talmud. Raphael Nathan Rabbinovicz, who lived most of his scholarly life in Munich, (he was from Russia, and died in Kiev), can be considered somewhat responsible for Talmudic scholars returning to the original ancient texts of the Torah and the Talmud when conducting religious studies.
