Raptor #110 is a second year Red Tailed Hawk. It was found in Taylor County near the Tygart Lake State Park. The bird only weighed 525 grams, or 1.2 pounds. Birds of this size should weigh around the 2.5-4 pound range. The cause of starvation is unknown at this time. The young hawk was tube fed 40 ccs of pureed cat food with high fat content and mixed with a portion of Gatorade. Prognosis is very poor for this bird and it will not likely survive the night.
