Rating: 2.75/5 Cast: NTR, Samantha, Shruti Haasan… Director: Harish Shankar Music: SS Thaman Producer: Dil Raju Banner: Sri Venkateshwara Creations Release Date: 11 October 2013 After his super hit film Baadshah, Jr NTR has teamed up with Harish Shankar to woo the audience with another entertainer ‘Ramayya Vasthavayya’. Lets go straight away to check out the highlights of the Ramayya Vasthavayya movie review. Story : Nandu (NTR) is a college student who lives a simple and happy life. He comes across Akarsha (Samantha) one day and instantly falls in love with her. He begins wooing her with his wit and antics. After a while, Akarsha also falls for him. Nandu decides to accompany Akarsha to her hometown, for the wedding of her sister. At the wedding, the story takes an unexpected twist. A different side of Nandu comes out. It is revealed that Akarsha’s father (Mukesh Rishi) and Nandu have a violent past. That past also involves Ammulu (Shruti Haasan) and an evil politician named Bikshapathi (Ravi Shankar). What is that past? Who is Nandu ? That is the story of Ramayya Vasthavayya. Analysis : The film is packaged entirely around its hero with NTR looking uber cool and as stylish as ever. He got into the skin of the character and has delivered a fantastic performance to shoulder the film. He captivates you with his gaze, his tone of voice, his chuckle and those itsy-bitsy gestures in the first half. The film also has some of NTR’s best dance moves in recent times. The fantastic scope for chemistry for his lead duo and NTR-Samantha live it up. The sizzle they share remains the films highlight. A few dialogues like Evadu badithey aaadu buddodu Buddodu antey guddalodadesi kodata, etc., have the theatre exploding Harish Shankar was able to tap NTRs potential, but has gone far too down the line in the processing of showing his rage. The first half is a big asset for the film. Entertainment quotient is good here. The film progresses at a good pace in this half. All the songs in the film have been shot in a very pleasing manner. The second half could be a huge let down as the film has a few illogical twists. The heavy dose of violence coupled with dragging scenes fails to engage the audience The second half lot of resemblances to NTRs earlier films Dammu, etc. and you get a deja vu feeling Theres nothing new in script as Harish pens an ordinary revenge drama. Cast Work: Samantha is cute and gorgeous as usual, but her role is largely limited to the first half. Her scenes with NTR have come out well. Shruti Haasan looks glamorous in her guest appearance. Rohini Hattangadi has done a neat job. Ravi Shankar’s characterisation is very cliched. Technical Aspects : Chota K Naidus cinematography is pure art in motion. Every frame is simply spectacular, with him capturing the varied colors and landscapes with brilliance. Harish Shankar is a guy who understands what fans expect from their hero. He has showcased NTR brilliantly in the first half. He should have taken better care about the second half Finally… Ramayya Vasthavayyas first half is a fun-ride as you see NTR in his elements. The second half could be a disappointment. Overall, the movie is a Stylish Mass Entertainer.
