Ray Milland returns, and gets to be the bad guy in The Greenhouse Jungle, helping his nephew (Bradford Dillman) to stage a fake kidnapping to break his trust fund, but then killing him to take the ransom money for himself. Unusually, the murder does not take place until halfway through the episode, long after Columbo has come on the scene. And maybe thats why this one just doesnt quite work for me. There are some great bits. Columbo tumbles down a steep hill. A very tense scene as Milland sneaks into Dillmans bedroom to plant evidence as the wife sleeps. Milland plays his role with all the arrogance and acerbic wit required, and Bob Dishy adds a lot as Detective Wilson, a sidekick who begins by idolizing Columbo, but is misled by the phony clues and even goes behind Columbos back towards the end of the episode.
