Re: Bowie at the AGO. I have loved his songs and albums over the years. Bowie not Stones side of the equation. I have seen him in concert 3 times. I even met him when I worked at MuchMusic - and took his photo. A little man. But I refuse to see him packaged: Ziggy Stardust reduced to banner ad with witty slogans, hurts. The same about all these pop acts the AGO is buying to increase viewership. The AGO should be about real artists - not pop artists. Give us something we dont know well. Dont re-package something we do know. Showing me a picture of the house Bowie was born in is interesting, but not art. Patti Smith, David Bowie... Its a slippery slope. Supertramp? Prince? Radiohead? REM? Madonna? Nirvana? Where do you draw the line once you engage the music world. In my mind music is about listening, creating visuals of your own. Id hate to know whats in the AGO store.
