I hope he/she can engage in dual perspective… I understand the moment that you really want to chat with your frds, and common room is definitely a right place for you all, instead of whispering loudly in library. Maybe the distance between tables and printer is a bit faraway, the sound wave produced by printer cant pass through my ears… Thats my own fault, Ill go to see doctors very soon! Of course it is expected that the library is meant to be a quiet place for students, but can you really expect complete and utter silence? Is that realistic? If a few whispers are enough to compel you to complain on this platform, would it not be expected that even footsteps, people opening their bags, and noises from the discussion rooms would bother you as well? (The photocopier, I believe, is obviously just an example) It does bring to question whether these noises are even that annoying since A LOT of students are able to get themselves to fall asleep under this environment. Other than that, if these people were really disregarding those around them, they wouldnt be whispering at all, they would have just used their normal voices, and that isnt a rare sight either. I dont know how long these people whispered, but under normal circumstances, they wouldnt be having long conversations, would they? If they were, well, I guess you wouldnt have needed to type this piece since someone else may have already mustered up the guts to ask them to stop or leave. Moreover, if one is really concentrating enough, such minimal noise around them would not register as one would be in the zone, focusing on ones material. Im sure most people can survive the occasional squeak of the chair and other odd sounds, right? Anyways, if all else fails, there are always earplugs, which can be purchased for under HKD20, by which total silence can be achieved, in or out of the library.
