Re: UWIs response to the Death of a baby. It is said that A picture paints a thousand words and in this context I say that.... a few words paints a picture, one of gross disregard and disrespect for the very person who they may have sworn to serve. Somehow the so-called qualified and professionals in Trinidad and Tobago have missed the point of their value and that value lies only in the service that is rendered to the citizen...they have become qualified to serve the nation and not themselves or politicians and that is why there has been a breakdown in so many of our institutions, entities placed and developed to secure our well-being, safety and freedoms. It is amazing that before May 2010 the Medical Association and even the Law Association had been so vociferous against all that they claimed to be contrary to good practice. They had been posing as champions of the people against a failing health care system and incompetent governance...so they claimed. Fast-forward four years later, in the most obscene political and corrupt climate that this country has ever experienced and one must ask : where have been their voices since May 2010? Its as if they had been muzzled by the parasites of political and as some have alleged ethnic bias....a bias which some have claimed to be responsible for the lack of African persons being admitted into their fraternity and practice...that same prejudice which has all of a sudden called upon them to defend one of their own regardless of the circumstances surrounding the issue and the gravity of the act! Where has been their voices I ask as anyone in this country can see clearly that conditions within the Health care system have all but worsened as demonstrated by public outcry...all this with two of the biggest national budgets that this country has ever had and the audacity and common practice of requesting more before the other is presented. Where has all this money gone and to whom? Conditions are worse in most areas, especially so-called PNM areas where school are not repaired and seldom open on time, health centers are starved and employment has become a thing of the past... The clowns at UWI who had the audacity to respond as they did regarding such a sensitive situation have just exposed themselves as persons void of work ethic and the true spirit of service to all...the very substances that should lay within the foundation of their practice...the essentials which qualify them to be doctors!
