Re: my last post, it has been clarified the Shaikh was grossly misquoted in this message: Message from [omitted], please try to read these duas in your nawafil salah as much as you can (In your qiyam, ruku or sujood). In the battle of yarmuk the Sahabah read this dua For the help (tawajjuh) of Rasulullah ﷺ . [End.] Thank you everyone thats confirmed that the original instruction when given was for two separate practices, the latter not intended for salah. Youll agree the messages that I, among many others, began receiving in the early hours missed this rather important detail. To state these duas ought to be made in qiyam, ruku or sujood, and then list two invocations, seems pretty explicit. Transmitters do a disservice to the teachers they relate from when they do so so incompetently. But worse is to unquestioningly, uncritically forward something that should stop you cold in your tracks and say, What the– simply because its attributed to an elder. I was careful to omit mention of the alleged source because my criticism was directed at anyone guilty of issuing such an instruction, whether an elder (which thankfully it wasnt) or a zealous but not-so-bright mureed misquoting him. Messages apparently asking worshippers on the authority of a trusted source to make istighatha to other than Allah in sujud are dangerous for the innocent and gullible, harmful for public perception, and massively irresponsible. This was the focus of my post. If youre going to share gems with the Ummah, please make sure you understood them properly yourself first!
