Re-posting by request -- Today, for the first day of winter, enjoy these three minutes of shaky footage from last Februarys winter storm showing a few landmarks while crossing town in the snow. For my out of town friends, even though it is below average cell phone video, I think you will enjoy remembering places from long ago. Traveling down 5th Street we pass the old mill which sits right on 5th Street. As we turn down Roanoke Avenue you will see a few of the towns older homes, including the Deeses log cabin home. Youll pass the Patterson Mansion, the old fire station and the old post office which is right across from the new fire station and Centennial Park with the current post office in the distance. As we turn down 7th Street at All Saints Episcopal Church and cross Hamilton you see the RRHS football field on your right. Continuing down 7th youll ride through a few blocks of mill houses as the snow continues to fall heavily. Crossing Washington, Raleigh, Virginia Streets and Park Avenue, you will notice a couple Roanoke Rapids mail trucks still delivering mail after 4:00 on treacherous roads. Thats a lot in three minutes! Sorry for the poor quality, but it helps to have the Beatles sing you along your ride:)
