Re-students Protest in Ogun State The students currently protesting in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital against the decision of Ibikunle Amosun led government of the state to reduce their school fees that was increased by the previous administration of Gbenga Daniel by 34-61% should be allowed to continue constituting public nuisance. The obviously oiled students should be allowed to continue sleeping on the streets of Abeokuta. I am sure they would go back to their houses when they are tired of mosquito. However, the security agencies must give the students close monitoring. Any of them trying to break down the laws and orders of the land should be caged. For the sake of clarity, let me expressly state that I was one of those that demanded for the reduction of the fees imposed on the poor students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye by Gbenga Daniel administration from Governor Amosun. On his assumption of office in 2011, Governor Ibikunle Amosun first reduced the fees by 10% and after many hues and cries, Amosun, last week, announced a further reduction of 34-61% starting from next academic session. To my own surprise, some visibly induced politically conscious Alumnis of the 32 years old citadel of learning incited some students missed with miscreants against the government, saying that the reduction should start from the ongoing academic session. It is worth saying that the school had already done her matriculation for this session. Fresh students have paid. Many returning students have paid. They want refund. The session commenced in first week of june. Exams is fast approaching. Well, as affirmed by Wale Adedayo, mr. Governor has reduced the school fees. Next session instead of this session? Ok! Engage him. No need for public disgrace. Thats how to go. Public disgrace should be a last resort because it could bounce back against you once the public feel you are not objective. The SUG should not have rolled out protests. It was very wrong. Protest is CONFRONTATION. That is the LAST of the 3 Cs. You only do that after exhausting the first two. The most funniest thing is that the protest is being bankrolled by the same political party that increased the already reduced school fees. MAA
