Read Psalm 119: 97-114 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (V105) Gods word is definitely a lamp to our feet, lighting up our way. In verse 110 is says The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts. No matter what we face, we need to keep on in Gods word and not depart from it. Through Gods word we gain more understanding and insight. As we meditate on Gods word and hide it in our hearts, we can receive Gods wisdom. God will often speak to us when we meditate on His word and listen to what the Holy spirit is saying to us. We cant just read Gods word alone, we need to allow it to penetrate deep down into us. This is where it can really make a difference and bring about change that we desire. As we learn to memorize scripture we find that it is a powerful weapon against the enemy and not only should we memorize scripture but learn, meditate on what God is saying in that particular scripture. Just as it is in Awana, when the boys and girls are to memorize their versus and then tell it back to their Awana leader. I always stop after they have said it to me and ask what that verse means to them so they have a better understanding of what it means and how important it is to hide Gods word in our heart.
