Read With Patience, for our future is depended on how we execute the Movement. When we received letters from MCI which states that MBBS is going to be of 7.5 yr ( 4.5 yr course + 2 yr Internship + 1 yr Rural ) We meet the Dr.V.P Mishra Advisor MCI. He confirmed the letter is true. We held a meeting between the student representatives and other parent body like DMA and IMA. It was then decided that the we will first try to meet the leaders of political parties and send letters & petition to all the person concerned. We met 1) Dr.Harshvardhan Leader of opposition delhi assembly, 2) Dr.Vinay aggarwal Medical council of India , 3) Dr.Narendra Saini General secretary Indian Medical Association (IMA) 4) Dr.Anil Goyal President Delhi Medical Association to discuss the 2 year of internship and additional 1 year of internship. We dispatched request letter to all the persons concerned with this including the MCI, IMA, Health secretary etc. When we did not received any response from the Officials we are calling NATIONWIDE INDEFINITE STRIKE from 12th February 2014 till our demands are not met. Imp Points regarding Strike for all Medical Colleges outside Delhi During the Strike 1) the whole Interns, Medical Students will not resume their duty. However, We will not affect the EMERGENCY DEPT of HOSPITAL. 2) We will hold a Peaceful Dharna in our college only wearing Apron and stethoscope with Playcards having Slogans. (If you want you can go on with candlelight march, flash mob etc but make sure its peaceful and should not involve violence in any case) ( Slogans can include We are not against rural posting, Let doctors live in peace, 7.5 yr MBBS is a Death Sentence etc) 3) We will then submit the agenda to the Principal signed by us and other officials and ask them to forward it to the State Health Secretary, MCI and Central Health Ministry. 4) We will not resume our duties till our representative negotiate with the Health Department and MCI and we GET A WRITTEN ASSURANCE THAT SUCH THING IS NOT HAPPENING TO US. 5) Please remember each and everyone of you that Doctors are not against rural posting, While Making any statement please think twice because it can act against us ( The government will try to defame Doctor in any case. Dont Lose you calm , Dont use abusive language, Dont speak against any political party or any leader or any religion. ) 6) As soon as we get any information we will circulate via all means possible to reach masses. Following agenda are there in front of us which i have Drafted : 1) The government should rollback the resolution of 7.5 yr MBBS passed by the MCI dated 28.11.2013. a) How can they imagine to increase the course duration that too in middle of term? b) It takes a doctor about 10 years to complete his studies and then get settled whereas a student of engineering or any other stream gets settled in 4-5 yr and support his/her family. c) They compare the duration to the courses in US but they dont know that in US they have a PG seat and job ready for each and every undergraduates passing from there. Its not condition like India where even your future is uncertain, here even in middle of course government changes the course duration for its vote bank politics. d) why would one opt for medicine field? 2) The total duration of the MBBS should be only 5.5 yr I.e 4.5 yr and 1 yr internship. 3) Doctors are not against rural service but rural posting should be included in 1 yr internship period ( we already have 2 months in it, they can extend to 6 months ). Similarly they can appoint Post Graduate students 4 months each year for 3 years to strengthen the need for specialized doctors in PHCs and CHCs 4) The place where rural posting should be inspected by a Senior Professor from College and a Student Representative so as to know that PHC is atleast equipped with basic infrastructure for a doctor to work, life saving medicines are atleast available with other staffs. 5) The security of the doctors specially the lady doctors who will be in PHCs should be kept in mind. With increase Incidence of Assault these days, If something happens to a Doctor in duty then who will be responsible? Ppl can come and say sorry but that wound will never be healed again. 6) Rural service should always be voluntary and not compulsory. a) Doctor are always misjudged and Politicians & Government keep saying that doctor do not want to go to villages which is absurd. b) the total vacancy in PHCs across India is 2800 approx as per the RTI filed., So how will they accommodate 45k thousand MBBS doctors passing each other? And why there is no initiative from the government to employ doctor? Why are no proper enrollment done each year? This proves that government themselves are not serious about it. 8) After all this torture by the Government Why will Doctors not prefer to leave the country and go to other countries where doctors are respected and not experimented? It will lead to a large number of ppl opting for foreign univ and Ultimately BRAIN DRAIN. 9) Government spend crore of rupees on Iitians, IIM People. Why they are not given 1 yr internship for the country Rural development instead of working in some bank outside india. Why are lawyers not posted in District court as internship? Think on it.
