Read a posting by one Wanita MCA leadership (with the surname Ong) against Ridhuan Tee Abdullah statement just now. Her posting was simple : do you know this person? What he said was not what a human being would said Implying that Ridhuan is not a human. The comments ensued was equally upsetting : entering Islam has to make someone non-human by a commenter on her post. Do Malaysians really know what the spirit of freedom of speech? Freedom of speech is supposed to be a right guaranteed to every citizens as a mean to protect themselve against tyrants, BY WAY OF advancing a cause or advocacy of believes for the interest of a group or community. Thats the Spirit and Essense of freedom of speech. These people (above) really do maximize the feature of freedom of speech, but never truly understand the Essense of it when they call others inhuman for their differing views. I do not concur with Ridhuan Tees view but I respect his effort in responding to a post on non-muslims contribution with his version of facts, and opinions (again, I disagree with those at many levels too ). He was trying to exercise his freedom of speech, by advancing his ideas, opinions, based on his versions of facts, which can cause discomfort to many non-Muslims (I was quite discomfort with what he said). But as a fellow believer of freedom of speech, I refuse to go low to label him as non human or animals just because he was expressing his personal opinion. I really hope that Malaysians would at least google up what freedom of speech means and what its spirit essentially entails. Stop abusing its feature and claiming to be a practitioner.
