Read exchange below, this discussion was in reference to last night City Council meeting where Leo & Johnny threatened not only reducing PD officers but also their collective bargaining agreement and Johnny also took a shot at the Audubon Society. Funny how Leo & Johnny think the answer to our budget problems is a reduction in Police Officers and a even the suggestion of messing with their collective bargaining agreement isnt a good way to boost moral at a department already torn apart by politics. We are ranked as the #1 Crime riddled city in Texas and our Political City Manager wants to fire Police Officers. Makes no sense to me! Read Below: Now they want to get rid of our collective bargaining. I know they would need a referendum. Mike Jones 8:02am Mike Jones The majority is all about reducing the cost of all city services and re- directing the money from those areas (PD, FD,EMS, Parks, City Maint) to construction/engineering projects that get big dollars into the hands of people who will pay kick back. Its a simple strategy that I hope leads them to jail. We just have to win in November. Mike Jones 8:10am Mike Jones If we have healthy pay for the above city services there isnt any or much money left over in the budget to spend on construction projects that they get kickbacks from. They are not in office to serve the citizens of Weslaco they are there for one reason and that reason is to put cash in their own pockets. They just last month approved giving Briones $700,000.00 for a sewer assessment survey. No work no materials just to tell us that we need a new sewer plant. But last night they fight for hours to get the citizens a 1% tax break. And yes they wanted to fire two or three police officers or look into canceling the collective bargaining agreement. Like I said take monies from services and use them on construction contracts. Once they are done Im telling you this city will be strapped with 100 million in debt and they will all disappear unless the FBI moves in and stops them. I dont think we will have to wait that long I believe with all of my heart that the good people of Weslaco will rise up and take this city back in November. Time will tell. Keep up the good work. Lots of PD officers at the meeting last night was good to see.
