Read some works of Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. I do think both these good people, no doubt there. One a scientist the other a humanist. Some might think it odd for a devout Catholic to venture into these two. I have not found myself at odds, actually quite the opposite. It is commonly said by these and other of the athiest movemement that the universe has no meaning. What I have been fascinated by is the fact that these two writers and others in the past have went to such a Great extent to get across this idea that the world is meaningless. Doing this has MEANT so much to them, this is clearly evident. And there lies the irony. Jean Paul Sarte, Friedrich Nietche, David Hume ( the much more fashionable and intelligent of the atheists) should have never picked up a pen to disprove there is indeed meaning in our world. If there is no meaning to it, there would be no one so Hotly and with so much meaning asserting that there is no meaning to it. I think undoubtedly everyone is on the same pursuit at the end of the day.
