Read the whole thing. The last paragraph is the funniest. Carolyn McCarthy D-NY has lung cancer. She is now suing 70 asbestos companies for damages. McCarthy has never worked with asbestos. When she was a schoolgirl, her father did. The suit claims that her father brought asbestos home from work 55 years ago with him on his clothes. Then the asbestos jumped from his clothes to hers and sure enough 55 years later it gives her lung cancer. What her suit doesn’t say is that she has been a chain smoker for over 40 years. In fact, she is so hooked that she has been known to go outside for a smoke in between house votes. Her lawyer, Daniel Blouin, never mentioned her smoking but was asked about it by reporters. Blouin said the smoking could have been a contributing factor but that asbestos was the main factor. Sound like a sleazy law firm? You betcha, it’s Sheldon Silver’s law firm. Silver, D-NY has been the Speaker of the State assembly in New York since 1994. Silver is so crooked and has created a culture of corruption in the Statehouse that is so prevalent, that Gov Andrew Cuomo has considered removing him as Speaker. When pressed about whether the smoking could have been the main factor, Blouin responded: “It has been conclusively proven that cigarette smoking and asbestos exposure act synergistically to cause lung cancer,” “There is no doubt, scientifically, that in addition to exposure to asbestos dust, smoking played a role.” Blouin said that people who have been exposed to asbestos and smoke are 4,000% more likely to get cancer than those who are exposed to asbestos and do not smoke. The same study found that people who put Jergens lotion on their hands and are shot through the brain are 1,000,000 more times likely to die than those who place Jergens lotion on their hands but do not get a bullet to the brain.
