Reading a great book called Sorrow and Blood on Christian - TopicsExpress

Reading a great book called Sorrow and Blood on Christian persecution. Let me share a couple of short story/quotes. In 1967 in the former Soviet Union the group Science and Religion, Nauka i Religiia tells of a stubborn little girl. This little second grader was from a known Christian family. The teacher announced that since the cosmonauts had gone 300 kilometers in space and had not seen God she wanted to know what this little girl had to say for a response. How would she reply? " I do not know if 300 kilometers is very much, but I do know very well that only those who are pure of heart see God". (Powell 1975b, 155; Matt 5:8). Not bad for an 8 year old. 1974 in the former Soviet Union. The KGB arrested Nijole Sadunaite for typing carbon copies of the underground Chronicles of the Catholic Church in Lithuania. She was interrogated and tortured and sent to trial. Later she was sent to the gulag for three years and her autobiography was smuggled out entitled Radiance of the Gulag. Broken in flesh but undaunted in spirit, she confounded her captors with long suffering love. When they sentenced her she said, "this is the happiest day of my life. I am being tried for the truth and the love of my fellow man..." Her guards who did not speak Lithuanian asked her what she said. They said in all the years of escorting the accused she was the only one that made the prosecutors act like they were condemned to death. (Sadybaute 1987, 57,58) Indeed they were.
