Reading about how the Italian fascists used social assistance as a mechanism of social control, makes me wonder what the opinion of the American people would be if a more in depth study of these type of movements was covered in public school history courses. If people saw how welfare, healthcare, and social security were used by the Italian Fascists to keep people believing their fabricated world view, would we be more skeptical of these things as a society? Everything has a cost, believing that politicians enact these programs for the greater good is often far off the mark. What we should really be asking is: what do YOU get out of what you are giving away to us?
