Reading biographical snippets of Kurt Vonnegut make me wonder how the man lived on for so long. When I first read about his mothers suicide, I initially thought she killed herself thinking her son (that would be Kurt) was killed fighting in Germany. I found out his mother in fact killed herself BEFORE he deployed and became a POW in World War II. So lets sum this up with: Hey your moms dead. Okay. Now youre going to war. (I guess you dont have to worry about your mom crying for you while your overseas?) Okay. Now youre taken prisoners by Nazis who think of you as a traitor because of your German heritage. By the way, youre gonna be in Dresden and now youre gonna live through the rest of this war burying burnt corpses while being starved and beaten by those said Nazis. Okay. Youll be a highly esteemed prolific writer after all this though. Lets just say hes had a few more lower points in life than me.
