Reading the series bible for Star Trek: The Next Generation...and just...wow! Gene Roddenberry was awfully insightful on a lot of social issues we still havent quite figured out even today! I grew up on the Star Wars side of that debate, so I missed out on a LOT by not taking this show as seriously (and...granted, when it originally aired, I was too young to fully embrace a lot of what it had to offer besides having the foresight to OBVIOUSLY see that Patrick Stewart was destined to be Professor X on the big screen someday...) Long story short; we need a new Star Trek series, not for the fancy tech and special effects....but for the strong and poignant social commentary this show has a strong pedigree for voicing. We need a next-Next Generation!
