Reading this morning on Leadership... Came across this illustration... Thought it was profound... Leonard Ravenhill in The Last Days Newsletter tells about a group of tourists who were visiting a picturesque village. As they walked by an old man sitting beside a fence, one tourist asked in a patronizing way, Were any great men born in this village? The old man replied, Nope, only babies. Leadership is developed, not discovered. The truly born leader will always emerge; but, to stay on top, natural leadership characteristics must be developed... John Maxwell, Developing the Leader within You (1993) OMT... Bruce Larson points out in his book, Wind and Fire, some interesting facts about Sandhill Cranes. They have 3 distinct characteristics: 1. They rotate leadership; no one bird stays out in front all the time. 2. They choose leaders who can handle the turbulence. 3. During the time one bird is leading, the rest are honking their affirmation.
