Reading with interest the latest Topic on Golf Club atlas Whats Left to Be Discuss? Well guys, my point is that in fact not much of real issue has been discussed. The morons or dickheads have seen to that over the years. Add to that this madness in talking about Listings and Rankings is quite frankly as boring as the aerial game. We have not openly talked about the issues, the architects have generally held back and the most import topics refuse to be addressed let alone discussed - the first one being what do people know about GCA in the 19th century - well according to Golf Club Atlas the answer is and I quote 1. Pre-1899: The ‘architects’ of this day spent only one or two days on site to stake out the tees and greens. They made few decisions as they didn’t have the ability to move much land. However, the lesson learned from studying the works of the Old Town Morris and the like is timeless: nature, as opposed to money, provides the most enduring challenges. To make a statement like that just shows how many have not even grasped the basics in the game - if we cant get the starting point right just what sort of foundations are being laid to discuss the current issues. Guys there lots to discuss its just being given the opportunity - I still say the problem will not be resolved by one post a month - than in itself will see members leave, its the ability to understand, learn from each other and understand the game which is what its all about - but the game is nothing, unless we have thinking, challenging courses that reward but also penalise those with too much courage - the name of the game is generating different levels of skill not just by the player/golfer but also the clubs/ governing bodies and most importantly the architects/designers to laid down that bloody challenge in the first place. Oh Hell there is an awful lot to discuss, but we need Members who want to participate, not to remain silent, or show distain because its not how they currently play the game, its all about a walking, thinking game that works with a challenging courses that have options for all levels of players. Its no longer right to keep silent, watching carts reshape our designs and courses, its not right to see players so uneducated that they have to resort to aids to play the game - all that just defines whats wrong with not just golf but the whole golfing industry including its blog sites. There is a lot to discuss but have the current Members of Golf Club atlas the balls or the motivation to face let alone address the issues. United in purpose the site can achieve many things, squabble and allow trolls in who add nothing but discord and we will see further dilution of the Royal & Ancient Game of Golf. - Then I suppose I am willing to fight for the game while millions just do not give a sh#t. Post this on Golf Club Atlas and see how many bother to even post a comment on the subject and more interestingly the direction of their comment.
