Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona Today at 01:11 (Source: Team Talk) Barcelona clinched a 3-1 aggregate win over Sociedad following a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night to book a date with Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final. Both sides started off with intent and following a few half chances, David Zurutuza should have tested Jose Pinto in the Barca goal after 20 minutes when he brought it down on the edge of the area but his effort was weak and went wide. This seemed to spark the Blaugrana into life and after Dani Alves had forced a good save from Enaut Zubikarai. Lionel Messi opened the scoring on 27 minutes with a brilliant individual effort, dribbling past three defenders before firing home from the edge of the area. Barca then went close through Pedro when he was played in by Cesc Fabregas but Zubikarai made another smart save and Sociedad could have equalised when Carlos Vela shot under Pinto, only for Alves to sweep back and clear. Gerardo Martinos men continued to dominate possession in the second stanza and almost doubled their lead on 53 minutes when Andres Iniesta struck a beautiful effort inches wide from the edge of the area. However, Sociedad were still pushing forward and Carlos Vela came close to equalising when he smashed the ball against the crossbar from wide on the right after linking-up nicely with Xabi Prieto, while at the other end, Zubikarai produced another fine double save from Messi and Fabregas. Jagoba Arrasates men did eventually get a reward for their efforts when Antoine Griezmann smashed in from the edge of the area in the dying moments but it was too little too late as the game finished 1-1 on the night, 3-1 on aggregate to Barcelona and they will now meet their old rivals Real in the final.
