Youve been waiting for the clock to strike midnight and your fairy tale is set to begin. Youll take the new game by storm and it will be your time, your date with destiny finally arriving. That may be true for some, but if you want it enough, youll think of it the same way I do: there are no Cinderellas. If you want to be the best, I hope your passion for the game will burn hotter than the trial by fire that awaits you. The fairy tale may be a lie, but the magic is very real, out there waiting to be discovered by some serendipitous but disciplined brilliancy or creativity. And when its all said and done, I hope the story that you write through the game is one that captures the hearts and imaginations of others not just through your triumphs but also through your defeats, dedication, and defying the odds. The odds will be long- The game will be cruel. But it will be rewarding. The game will be terrible. But it will be amazing. The game will be infuriating. But it will be calming. The game will be divisive. But it will be unifying. The game will not matter. But it will mean everything. It seems like everyone wants to be great at this game or other games. I challenge you to be great, but more importantly ladies and gentlemen, I hope you to give the game everything youve got. Even if you lose, the community will be better for it. So while you might not be great, as greatness is always so elusive, youll achieve something much more important than skill in a game. Youll find something much more important than greatness. In some way, if you put it out there, youll matter.
