Real Talk: When youre in a relationship, I think one of the things you have to watch for early is selfishness. The measure at which a person is willing to give of themselves, is often directly proportionate with their maturity level and depth of love for you. It aint about what a person says....its about what their actions speak, and at what volume. I think selfishness has ruined many a relationship. Even minor instances early may be red flags for bigger issues later. My view is, you look at what person is willing to give...and give up. If a man is never willing to give up watching football to spend time with you....that may mean one thing...but If a man is willing to give up going to a football game with his boys to spend time with you.....that means something as well,...and it should mean something to you. Men are trainable (Im being for real), we respond to positive feedback. When a wise women sees a man give up something that is valuable to him, they will make sure that, that man knows how much they truly appreciate it,.....because when they show that type of appreciation, they just put things in place for that man to want to continue to give....and look for ways to creatively give in the future. (if he has the right mindset) When a person is ready to Love...that should mean that theyre ready to Give. But lets not be too impressed, when people give things that can be easily acquired and easily replaced.....regardless of how expensive they are. (jewelry, cars, money, shopping trips) Lets be more impressed, when a person is willing to give things that they cannot replace. (Their time, their minds, their inner thoughts, their body, their emotions, their support, their dreams, their heart.) Those are the valuable things. Marriage, in its original form, is a calling and ministry.....its a life-long decision to give, and to love on purpose regardless of what happens, in good times and bad, even when we dont emotionally feel like it. Marriage is a life-long journey. Find the person that you can enjoy the ride with. You want the one, that makes you smile, makes you love, and makes you better.
