Real change wont come from professional activists rooted in the existing political and economic system; itll come from a mobilization of people willing to engage in risk and sacrifice. There is a huge difference between professional 9-5 non-profit employee activists and those who live and breathe activism in both their personal and political lives. There is a huge difference between Liberal environmentalism and Radical environmentalism - and its important to get informed about what that is. Radicalism is not extremism, it is analysis of root causes rather than symptoms. Radicalism dares to resist enmeshed systems of oppression and presents a threat to corporate governments who then in turn try to brand environmental activists and social unrest as terrorism. There is a big difference between Terrorism and Resistance. Strikes against material infrastructure and/or sabotage of property have played a part in every successful resistance of the past: Womens Suffrage, Indian Independence, Irish Liberation, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and the anti-Apartheid movement. And those is power would wish us not to know this history. Our book, entitled Deep Green Resistance, examines past resistances in order and grapple with the moral and spiritual implications of resistance against in-justice. Deep Green Resistance is a radical, social-justice environmental organization working to normalize resistance. We are a legal, strictly aboveground organization advocating a strategy for the environmental movement - a strategy that will necessitate the existence of an unknown, super-smart, highly-effective underground that can target key nodes of industrial infrastructure.
