Really surprised and disappointed at the stand of NDA Government in supreme court on black money It is again saying what the UPA Government was saying that we have double taxation avoidance treaty. A lay man like me understands that it just means that an individual will not be taxed in both India and the treaty country which will encourage investments in India Can any intelligent soul shed some light on what this has to do with identity of black money holders and phenomenon of stashing black money in swiss banks? sounds like a lame excuse to me and if a treaty forbids us from taking action against people who violate law of the land and stash illegal or undeclared income in foreign banks then such treaties violate the fundamental principle of sovereignty. Such treaties should not have been signed or scrapped now if needed
