Reason for the Season As we start the down hill slide into Christmas please stay focused on what Christmas is truly about. I catch a lot of heat when I say this is my least favorite holiday, I am looked at like I am the Devil himself. I dont mean I do not like Christmas and what it stands for, what I mean is that this is the most commercialized holiday of the year. I have been the child barely getting anything for Christmas and I have been the father barely able to give my children anything, the stress was so intense in both scenarios and in both cases it did not matter as the gifts had no relevance to what Christmas was truly about. No celebration surrounded around Christ should cause any stress or heartache. For me I would rather celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior with my family and friends. It is truly better to give than receive but the giving does not have to be monetary in value, the best gift you can give is love, time and prayer and I think we all need that far more than a purchased gift. My family will exchange gifts, as will most, but the reason for the celebration will never be forgotten in my family as long as I have am alive and breathing.
