Reasons to Date a Mariner: Here are the trade-specific skills that the sailors develop by virtue of their job which may come in handy in the personal affairs of their lives as well: I..:pThey have strong hands and they don’t shy away from getting them dirty. (Ask a marine Engineer) They’re not afraid to get wet. (when working on the deck) They love it when it blows. (wind from behind) They are good with ropes, knots and harnesses. (may not be kinky though) They can usually get it back up after a couple of minutes. ( By “It” I mean Generators and power) They’re adept at using lubes and ticklers. They won’t mind the feel of rubber. (They are used to “wet suits”) They can keep it going forward no matter how much she (the ship) rolls. They are good at pumping. (Ask the ones working on tankers.) They believe in if you can’t keep it up, don’t take it out. (“It” here means machines and tools.) When in doubt they let it out. (“It” here means: the doubt. They believe in proper communication.) Sailors drop more cloth on a regular basis than anyone. (Dirty boiler suits into washing machines and oily rags in the bins.) They can go for hours. They can beat hard for a long time. (long working hours) They know what to do when things get rough. Sailors work hard when they are in a hole. (By hole I mean difficult situation) They always try their best to keep her in shape. (Ship is called a She. Note: Responsible and Caring attitude)
