"Rebuke Unclean Spirits" Do not be surprised when your efforts to enter into prayer are sabotaged. This is spiritual warfare. Beware. Satan is determined to distract you. Resist and rebuke him. Paul and his group were on the way to prayer when a woman began following them. She had an unclean divining spirit, but posed as a believer, flattering Paul and his fellows. Acts 16:18 - "And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour." PRINCIPAL - "Timothy" On his first missionary journey, Paul met Timotheus, son of a Jewish Christian mother, and a Greek father. The brethren at Lystra and Iconium knew young Timotheus and reported good things about him to Paul. Paul obviously saw the hand of God on his life, because he wanted him to accompany him on his missionary journeys. Timothy became one of the greatest Christians and ministers of all time. I pray that God will raise up many more young men like Timothy today. Acts 16:1 - "Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus." PRINCIPLE - "You Should Be Willing To Do More Than Is Necessary" Paul chose to circumcise Timothy even though Paul was at that very time hand-delivering written epistles to all the churches which said that circumcision was not necessary to salvation. Why? The Jews would likely have refused to hear them if Timothy had not been circumcised. Will you pay an otherwise unnecessary price just so someone will listen to you preach the gospel? Acts 16:3-5 - "Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek." PROPHECY - "He Will Judge The World In Righteousness By Jesus" When Paul arrived in Athens, Greece, "his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry." He disputed with the Jews and with anybody who would listen. He preached that God created heaven and earth, and about Jesus and His resurrection. He also warned them that judgment day is coming. Acts 17:31- "Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."
