Recalling the Games we played at School. . 8 play fields, one basketball ball court, one tennis Court, one badminton court, two table tennis tables, one swimming pool Terrys exercise & Boxing room. . . This was what Montfort offered us then. . . when we were just 300 students in all. All Montfortians knew all these games played at school. Truly Amazing. No school could have given us more opportunities. How Games were effectively managed at Montfort - 1960s and 1970s THE GAMES TIME TABLE:- Monday & Thursday- Football Tuesday & Friday - Hockey Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday - Cricket No other school could have had a time table for games. Montfort was unique at this. The games schedule was managed to perfection so that no one could bunk games ... Totally Montfort had SEVEN play fields then: The First Field - as we all know it. The Second Field - atop the First Field (on the eastern side) The Third Field - with slightly lower level on the east of Second Field. The Fourth Field -tucked away to the West of the the First Field (opp May Field - wicket gate) The Fifth Field - Next to 7th standard dorm (Bro Anselms Dorm). The Sixth Field - The present Assembly square The Seventh Field - Overlooking the swimming pool. (Then it was overlooking the carrot garden). The Eighth Field - At Charmettes. It was started in 1970, to meet the increased intake. The total student strength when we passed out from Montfort in the year 1971 was about 300. Patrick (GREEN) , Gabriel (BLUE) & Montfort (YELLOW) houses had about 100 students each. These 100 students were divided to play in these seven play fields. So effectively about 200 were playing compulsorily. The non playing house used to go for a walk or go for boxing, exercise, table tennis, tennis, swimming, basket ball, badminton etc.. No school could have given us better opportunities ... ...... Montfort was truly G R E A T !!!
