Receive warm and sincere revolutionary greetings, we trust that this statement finds you in good health and high festive spirits. As the academic and administrative year comes to an end, SASCO VUT branch breathes a heavy sigh of relief. This year of 2014 has been in our view a rather bad year for the general VUT society and black, poor and disadvantaged students in particular. We have seen violence and disorder like never before in our residences, death has become somewhat second nature and an everyday happening, managements sensitivity towards the plight of our students has taken a new swing to the dirty pits, and the SRCs willingness and ability to assist in this regard has too taken a dive in unsavoury waters. We are, however, inspired and injected with enthusiasm by the selfless actions by students at the face of injustice earlier this semester. The performance by VUT soccer in particular and many other sporting and cultural codes to bring light in a bleak institution was another high this year. VUT is indeed our world to a better future, and the little positive happenings of the this year of 2014 gives us faith and strength. Intellectual brilliance and academic excellence being at the heart of our organisation and a guiding principle, we trust that this examination cycle was met with diligence and the determination to overcome poverty, inequality and unemployment. SASCO VUT wish you all safe travels during the festive season, we wish you to come back with refreshed minds and bodies ready to move our institution and personal growth to greater highs. We await the matric results and are ready to welcome your brothers, sisters, cousins and all your community members wishing to further their studies here. Have a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year! SASCO VUT Branch Chairperson Neo Gaoshebe 073 163 4006 SASCO VUT Branch Secretary Themba Zondo 078 708 3577
