Received a concerning message today from someone who was angry I couldnt make time to fit them in for a project that would be pro-bono for the exposure. Other than being a completely disrespectful thing to do to an artist, I have a full time, 60 hour a week job. I would love to do this for a living and knock out a costume a week, but its not feasible at the moment- and offering exposure in order to get free stuff is insulting. Please, if you are commissioning an artist for a costume, be courteous and kind. Its our art; creating something for a client who is appreciative is inspiring, and youre more likely to remain on their favorite client list- yes, we have those.
