Kæra samstarfsfólk. Ég hef fylgst með skelfilegum fréttum af hamförunum á Filippseyjum í kjölfar fellibyljarins í lok síðustu viku. Íslendingar eru eins og þið vitið ýmsum veðrum vanir og náttúruöflin hafa tekið toll hjá okkur. Umfang hamfaranna í ykkar heimalandi eru hins vegar örugglega umfram það sem við getum ímyndað okkur og neyðin í samræmi við það. Þetta eru erfiðir óvissutímar fyrir ykkur og ég vona að við getum með einhverjum hætti létt undir með ykkur. Ég hef því óskað eftir því að mannauðsdeild spítalans skoði málin með ykkur sérstaklega og hvort stuðnings- og ráðgjafateymi okkar geti veitt ykkur þjónustu á þessum erfiðu tímum. Ég vona innilega að aðstoð berist fljótt og vel til bágstaddra og er þess fullviss að ég deili því með framkvæmdastjórn spítalans og samstarfsfólki ykkar öllu. Ég óska ykkur og ástvinum ykkar sömuleiðis alls hins besta. Dear all. I´ve watched with dismay as news of the devastation caused by typhoon Haiyan have reached us. As you are well aware of we here in Iceland are used to bad weather and have in the past suffered as a consequence. However, the scale of the catastrophe in your beautiful country is beyond what we can fathom. These are difficult times, full of uncertainty, for all of you. I hope that we here at Landspítali can in some way help you. Hence I have requested that human resources here at the hospital get in touch with you to offer general or more specific help in these difficult times. We all at Landspitali do hope that aid arrives promptly to those in need in your home country. I wish you and your loved ones all the best.
