Received a letter today from some debt agency saying I owe them money for a catalogue taken out in 2006. Considering I havent used a catalogue since at least 2002 it is extremely unlikely that the debt is mine as it was also taken out at an address I left in 2004. They wanted me to go to the police and report the fact that someone had carried out fraudulent action in my name as it could affect my credit rating. Pity they are not as well informed on the law as I am in that any debt which has not been followed up for over 7 years is statute barred under Scottish law and therefore it would not affect my credit rating. As the debt has nothing to do with me and is not going to affect me then I wont be going to the police but will leave that to them
