Received an update from Andrea today. Brian had a procedure called an ERCP today - this is a procedure that looks at where the digestive fluids come from and where it ends up in the intestines. He had the fluid drained around his liver and it tested high for bilirubin. This meant he probably had a leak somewhere and would need a stent placed. Brian ended up having a leak at the anastomosis site where his duct was sutured to the donor duct. A stent was placed and will need to stay in for 8 weeks. Andrea said he was sleeping comfortably following the procedure. She is very thankful that this was caught sooner rather than later as an anastomosis leak if a very serious complication. This explains the pain he has been having since being home. Andrea said Brian was pain free prior to being discharged from the hospital. One of the signs and symptoms aof a leak is pain. Once again, Brians Guardian Angel is looking out for him.
