Recently, I came across a queer theorist that I really like, and read the interpretation of Fight Club being about a gay man who is in conflict with the part of himself that WISHES he could be straight. Personally, I read a lot of queer subtext into the film already, especially with Bob and his gender identity issues (the very least of which are his breasts) and a man who spends his time checking out underwear posters and in the company of hot, shirtless men, coming up with basically any excuse for physical contact, while at the same time punishing himself by making sure that physical contact is also painful as hell... Yeah. It also helps that the author Chuck Palahniuk is also gay. Im glad to see I wasnt alone and/or crazy, and/or interpreting this film by my own non-straight paradigm.
