Recently, I read the letter (Feb. 19) from Phill McIntyre of Skye Theater and wanted to share my experience with Patriot Renewables. The town of Carthage has enjoyed the ability to celebrate as a community during a day that was originally called “Splash.” In the succeeding years, the event was known as “Carthage Old Home Days.” As the organizer of Carthage Old Home Days, those festivities would not have been possible without the generous donation from Spruce Mountain Wind. As in the past, Patriot Renewables, the company that owns and operates Spruce Mountain Wind in Woodstock, funded our entire event. With Patriot’s kind donation, we created a fun-filled day for the community. Among other things, its sponsorship allowed us to rent a bounce house for families, hire a band and have a barbecue for all to enjoy. Many people set up tables to sell beautiful handmade crafts while others played games and took the time to catch up with friends. In addition to helping with Old Home Days, Carthage last year lost its beloved fire chief, Kenneth Flagg Jr. Patriot’s aid allowed us to organize a barbecue that raised $600 in proceeds, and donate that money to the Carthage Fire Department in Flagg’s name. Carthage Old Home Days was an occasion for the families of Carthage to come together, spend time with one another and meet their neighbors. From the beginning, Patriot Renewables has stepped forward to support the community and its events. Barbara Berry, Carthage
