Recently I visited Adelaides latest new Bar and Restaurant for a bite to eat; 2KW Bar and Restaurant. It was Impressive to say the least... After a quick journey in two elevators to reach level 8 you are greeted with a stylish restaurant that holds a sleek and contemporary edge. The staff are warm and welcoming, letting you walk around and discover at your own pace. I headed out onto the terrace, which tied effortlessly in with the restaurant thanks to the big bi-fold doors and windows creating a smooth transition from inside to out. Upon entering outside you are greeted by a magnificent view of down King William Street as it stretches towards North Adelaide. Walking around provides an almost a 240 degree view of the city which includes the Government House and Gardens, Adelaide Central Train Station and the Festival Centre. If you look further into the distance, towards the west you can also just see the ocean peaking on the horizon. The terrace provides plenty of seating and if your looking for a place to sit with some friends that is a little more private there are little booths that you can reserve. For lunch I decided to go with the falafel salad, simple yet delicious. Falafel for me is something that can usually be dry and crumbly and not very appetizing, however the falafel they served in the salad was nice, moist and quite delightfully fresh, leaving you wanting more. The only criticism I can make on the dish is that there was too much parsley, which can be easily fixed by leaving to the side. This visit I didn’t try any of their beers, ciders, wines and cocktails but look forward to that next time. Their menu delivers some great Australian wines, in particular South Australian and although some of it looks a little over priced, there is something on there for everyone to enjoy. If you’re not into wine there looks to be a few tastebud winners amongst the ciders, beers and cocktails that are definitely worth a try. I look forward to visiting this bar again with some friends. 2KW is a outstanding bar/restaurant bound to delight your taste buds and more importantly a great place to relax and rewind with friends with a cocktail or beer in hand. Whatever your in the mood for!
