Recently, Ipsos, a private research think tank, conducted an exclusive survey on 2 219 South African registered voters on a series of questions on key issues affecting their country, as it moves towards elections. Registered South Africans voters were asked whether the shortage of jobs in the country was a result of too many foreigners or if they played an important part in growing the economy by starting businesses. The results showed 67 percent of the respondents said there are inadequate jobs and too many foreigners. A further 19 percent said foreigners played an important part in the economy while 14 percent said they were unsure, did not know or refused.
