Recently Ive seen people talking about how they only carry the ammo that is in their gun. Personally I carry at least one reload and sometimes two. Ive seen many people who dont carry any. In my opinion you should at least carry one. Doesnt matter if you have a 5 shot revolver or a 17 round Glock 17. With semiautomatic pistols a common failure is a problem with the magazine. Having another one to reload with could be vital. Also if you do need to shoot in self defense reloading after you have stopped the threat isnt a bad idea. You now have a fully loaded gun should another threat arise. Many of the arguments for carrying spare rounds with a semiautomatic pistol apply to revolvers as well. There are also many other reasons to carry spare ammo, but I just wanted to highlight a couple. To me carrying extra ammo is not at all more difficult than carrying the gun itself. How many reloads do you guys carry? If you dont is it a convenience issue or a feeling you wont need more than what you have in the gun, or both?
