Recently Row New York had the pleasure of welcoming Leonard Marthinus, a South African Fellow from the Sports Programming Initiative. An international exchange program focused on using sports for social change, the initiative allows nonprofit leaders to share ideas and best practices for whole child empowerment through sports. In spring 2015 our Executive Director, Amanda Kraus, will return the favor, visiting sports-based youth development programs in South Africa. As part of the exchange, Leonard visited several nonprofits focused on sports-based youth development (including Row New York!). He runs his own nonprofit, Inner Circle Youth Development, and had great discussions with the RNY community on the challenges and joys of that endeavor.
