Recently, a few people have expressed frustration at some of the negative news regarding our city. Wed like to address their concerns directly. We understand and completely share these peoples frustration when negative events occur in Wanganui. However, frustration should be aimed at the causes of these events, rather than at the messengers of the news. We believe, as a community page, it is our duty to keep Wanganui people informed about happenings in the city, and to be genuine in our reporting of these. Sometimes this will mean we have to report on negative happenings. Particularly when national media, such as the NZ Herald, is reporting these stories about our community, it is important that our own community is made aware of these stories themselves. We accept that some people would rather not be made aware of these stories, and understand if you feel the need to remove your support of the page as a result. Whenever positive news is available we are the first to distribute it to followers of our page, and we appreciate those who send these stories in to us. But this does not mean we will close our eyes to negative stories and ensure the community is kept unaware of them. We believe Wanganui people have a right to be informed, and will continue to honour the duty we see in that respect.
