Recently, an Undaground Railoroad member saw a quote on his timeline from politician Paul Ryan. The quote reads: We have got this tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work. There is a real culture problem here that has to be dealt with. - Wisconsin Republican Paul Ryan In the comments of the post, a Facebooker named Tiffany Banyard responded: While it is a problem, its not a cultural problem nor the fault of (most of) those who fall victim to it. Its more an economical problem created by those same politicians that governed with an iron fist used to beat down these inner city folk. You are what you eat see smell hear and are born into. Without some semblance of strong work ethic, be it a neighbor, relative, guy at the corner store, one is destined to do and be what he/she sees and is fed everyday. Yeah some great and influential ppl come outta the hood but I guarantee there was at least one person in each of our lives that made that difference despite the things we saw around us. They created this despair to entrap us in the hoods, inner cities, projects etc and provide little opportunity for economic growth and then complain when the same ppl in these places dont have the where-with-all to get out and build up the communities because they very seldom have the opportunity to get out and see what else the world has to offer. We couldnt have said it better. #UGRR #letswork
