Recently, kindergarteners at Stevenson Ranch School presented a patriotic performance as a culminating event for a unit on national symbols. The performance also serves as a way to assess students ability to speak in complete sentences and memorize songs and poems. The students learned 11 songs that represent our country and each had a singing or speaking part at the microphone. A power point presentation above the students illustrated each song while students performed. Older members of the audience shared how touched they were that their grandchildren still learn these songs and the value of being an American at school.
