Recently signed Lincoln Indie Rock Band have released their latest single Dark Side of the Moon, recorded and produced at Lincoln URS studios and filmed in the heart of Lincoln. The music video was shot by Lincoln based UFS Studios, and with the lads coming from Lincoln, they wanted to feature scenes from across Lincoln as part of the video. The story is based on 2 parallel worlds suddenly colliding and the band reacting with their alternate selves! The inspiration was a quote from Leigh Hunt There are two worlds, the world we can measure with line and rule, and the world that we feel with our hearts and imagination.... David Truelove, band manager, wrote, recorded and produced the track from his URS studios, with inputs from the band. James (lead singer): As a local band from Lincoln, we really appreciate the support we receive from the people of Lincoln at our gigs and album launch event and for buying our Reach Away debut album. It meant that when we came around to creating the music video for Dark Side of the Moon we felt that it was important to feature scenes from Lincoln including the Brayford, The Collection and The Square Sail (who also hosted our album launch event) to give our fans an insight into the fantastic city where we come from. Jake (lead guitarist): Ripkord are looking forward to a massive year next year with the release of our new album and are working hard for opportunities to play at national festivals across the UK in 2015! Josh (bass guitarist): The best thing about being signed is that all our hard work over the last 5 years has paid off and gives us a lot more opportunities to get ourselves known across the UK. Hopefully other local bands like us can follow in our footsteps! Ev (drummer): The response we have had this year has been brilliant, our fanbase has massively increased not only locally but nationally. Since being signed it has helped us to have the opportunity of playing at loads of festivals and gigs this year (which is what we really love). The reception we received on tour this year as a relatively unknown band was incredible with people asking us for autographs and buying loads of our CDs at gigs! We cant wait until next year! Ripkord Bio Ripkord were formed at the URS Studios, Hykeham in 2009 at the young age of 12. They have been performing live at gigs and festivals across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, and released their first music video Firefly 2 years ago. Since then they have been making a dramatic entrance on the music scene with headlining gigs and festivals, band of the week radio appearances and two successful tours. Ripkord were welcomed back to Cornwall in the summer this year with another successful tour with fans following them from gig to gig, and were supported by fellow Lincoln band Falling Storm. In July 2013, they were signed to independent record label VisionHead Records. They had a massively successful album launch event in February 2014 to promote the release of their debut album Reach Away, with support from local and national businesses, billboards across Lincoln, Lincoln City Football Club pitch appearances and support from Two Seasons, URS, UFS, Milsteda, Posterscope London, APS Printers and The Ritz Cinema. Since then things have been going from strength to strength with a massively busy summer with up to 3 gigs a weekend! As the Lincoln lads have grown up together, they are a tight group and it is evident in their live performances their infectious personalities and determination to make it as a national band! Ripkord are busy writing their second album, which will be heavier than their first album. with influences from the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, it is going to be a ground breaking album! Ripkord are excited about 2015 and will be working hard to increase their fanbase across the UK and to appear at gigs and some of the big festivals! Ripkord will be appearing on the LincsFM stage at St Marks Christmas Lights Switch on on November 20th.
