Recently the power button on my iPhone 5 mysteriously stopped working. Also mysteriously, when you go to the Apple page, theres a dedicated page just for this problem, and if you enter your phones serial number, magically it knows whether your phone has been affected and whether you qualify for a free fix. Guess what, I do! And to get it, all I have to do is go to the Apple store at the exact same time the new models became available and leave it with them for four days. Im not even upset about the obvious ploy to just get me to get a new phone. Planned obsolescence in consumer technology shouldnt be surprising, even very sneakily planned obsolescence, and I appreciate the creativity. Im more upset about how Im completely ok, even excited, I am about falling into their trap. Well, yes, I do want a new phone anyway. Faster, prettier, and bigger screen thats made out of SAPPHIRES. I figure Ill at least make it a wash and talk my way into a free upgrade...
