Recently, there are sudden hullabaloo on student movement in universities and various parties seems to try their best in vying the student leaders attentions. Suddenly these students saw how they have become the center of attention and rubbing shoulders with some of the most influential figure in the Malaysian political scenario. It can be a heady experience, I know. Been there, done that. My advice, be careful. The practical minded may bask in the attention given and milk anything they can at this stage but understands the reality of being a student. They are still basically unemployed and with little or no career prospects especially in this economy. The losers will think this will last forever and neglect their studies, confident that their future has been secured by the powers that be. Nothing is further from the truth. Politicians will use them as with any political tool and discards them when its done. To some this can be very devastating. I am not saying that campus politics should not be cultivate. But keep it real. Understand the reality that you have to face, today and in the future. Its not wrong to be an idealist in certain issues, but at the same time try to be practical. Rarely does idealism feeds anybody.
